WordPress website development

Who this is for

Most of the businesses we build for are in one of three situations. You are starting out and have nothing but a domain name. You have a site that a friend or an agency built years ago, and it now looks dated and is awkward to change. Or you have outgrown a template builder and need something that behaves the way your business actually works.

In each case the answer is the same: a WordPress site you own outright, hosted where you choose, that any competent developer can pick up later. We do not lock work into a proprietary platform, and we do not hold the licence keys hostage.

What is included in every build

  • Design concepts until you are happy — we do not cap revisions at the design stage. It costs us less to change a layout than to rebuild a live site.
  • Mobile-first responsive layout — checked on real phones and tablets, not only in a browser window.
  • Free domain name registration for the first year, or we move an existing domain across at no cost.
  • One year of hosting and SSL included — after that it is £15 a month for a standard site, £30 for managed WordPress, £50 for e-commerce.
  • Search-engine ready — clean page titles and descriptions, an XML sitemap, and Google Search Console connected so you can see what people search for.
  • Basic training — two hours of support so you can add pages and edit text yourself.
  • Cross-browser testing in Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge.

Packages and prices

Every price is a fixed one-off cost. There is nothing to pay monthly unless you take hosting or a care plan afterwards.

  • Standard — £495. Up to five pages: home, about, services, contact and one more. Right for a business that needs a credible presence and a contact form.
  • Professional — £895. Up to twelve pages, blog, gallery, enquiry forms and Google Analytics. The usual choice for an established service business.
  • Platinum — £1,495. Larger sites, e-commerce with WooCommerce, booking or membership features, multilingual content.

Work outside a package is charged by the hour: £60 an hour for standard development and £90 an hour when you need something the same week. Page copy written for you is £75 a page.

How the work runs

  1. Conversation, no charge. We ask what the site has to achieve and who it is for. If a cheaper route serves you better, we will say so.
  2. Written quote. A fixed price and a page list, so there is no argument later about what was in scope.
  3. Design. You see layouts before anything is built, and we revise them until they are right.
  4. Build. Two to four weeks for most sites, depending on how quickly the text and images arrive from your side.
  5. Review. The site goes on a private address for you to click through and mark up.
  6. Launch and handover. We move it live, connect the domain and search console, and walk you through editing it.

Frequently asked questions

How long does it take?

Two to four weeks from approved design for most sites. The delay is almost always the text and photographs, so if you have those ready it moves faster.

Do I own the website?

Yes, entirely — the domain, the hosting account and the WordPress installation are in your name. If you leave us, everything goes with you.

Can I update it myself?

Yes. WordPress is built for that, and the two hours of training cover adding pages, changing text and swapping images. If you would rather not touch it, our care plans start at £39 a month.

What if I already have a website?

We rebuild on the same domain and keep the existing page addresses wherever we can, so the rankings you already have are not thrown away.

Do you write the content?

We can. Copywriting is £75 a page, and a page of copy written for search is £120. Many clients write a first draft and we edit it.

Is VAT added?

No. Pro Technologies Limited is not VAT registered, so the price you see is the price you pay.
